Hwange Hospital Revamp
We are in the process of working with the Hwange Hospital executive to improve facilities at the hospital in order to render the best healthcare services to the community.
Feeding Programme
We understand that a child cannot concentrate on learning on an empty stomach, as such we have launched a feeding programme for some of the rural and marginalised schools that fall under our Education Assistance Programs.
Menstrual Hygiene
In Zimbabwe, the majority of children aged 11 to 14 miss at least 2 days of school every month during their menstrual periods, with reasons being:
- Lack of proper sanitary wear, leading to use of unorthodox, uncomfortable sanitary wear e.g rags, old panties, grass, or leaves
- The discomfort caused by period pain
- Fear of soiling uniforms
- Stigma and victimisation by boys
This affects their academic performance. A pack of sanitary pads costs $1USD in Zimbabwe, a child needs at least 2 packs per each period and $2 per month is beyond the reach of many families in the rural areas.
As MNF we do provide sanitary wear and pain medication to selected marginalised schools for the comfort of the affected pupils
