Marvelous Nakamba is a footballer who plays as a central midfielder for English Premier League team Aston Villa and the Zimbabwe national team.
He was born in the mining town of Hwange in 1994 and spent the better part of his early childhood in that town. Having being brought up in this environment, as well as Bulawayo 'ghetto' suburbs in his early childhood,he understands the challenges that are faced by children from such communities and it is his wish to see no child going through the hardships he faced growing up.
This philanthropic mentality pushed him to start the Marvelous Nakamba Foundation to free as many children as possible from the vices of poverty
It is a private operating foundation which aims to support underprivileged children and youth, from early childhood to post-secondary education with education, with educational programs, sport, projects, life experiences and skills to prepare a bright future for communities and Zimbabwe at large. We operate directly (using our own staff, resources and facilities) and we also work hand in hand with partner organisations and individuals to achieve our goals.
We are of the view that a child's academic preparation should begin in early childhood and include social, emotional, physical and intellectual support. So as the MNF we strive to ensure a holistic focus on each child
We believe every child can succeed, and that they are the future of a nation. As the MNF, we provide parents, educators and other partners with resources, knowledge and skills needed to improve child outcomes
What future do we envision? Dreams within reach. Our initiatives give underprivileged children opportunities to access quality education and related services from early childhood so they will be able to break the bonds of their circumstances. Armed with this, children will flourish- and so will their families and communities
